Adorable First Birthday Session - Pittsburgh

It's no secret, that first year with your baby flies by so fast. One minute you are waking up every couple hours wondering how it is humanly possible to function on so little sleep and the next you are lunging across the living room to help cushion their fall as they take their first steps. It is truly a wild ride and one of the best. Over the course of that year you have captured countless images of your sweet little one on your phone. Let's celebrate by doing a full blown first birthday session...cake smash and all!

While first birthday sessions can absolutely include family they don't always have to. In the case of this sweet girl, the first birthday session was 100% about her! Partially because I had just had a full family session with them in the fall. Whatever type of first birthday session you want to go for, I am game!

Because of how unpredictable the weather is this time of year and how cold it is I do suggest doing first birthday sessions inside. This can be in your own home or in a studio like the session I am sharing today. The studio gave a large variety of backdrops all to help showcase this sweet girls personality. And man was I excited when I got smiles and giggles out of her since she was not totally sure of her family session in the fall.

Because this session was only for the birthday girl, we had plenty of time to alternate backdrops and have a cake smash. I am sharing some of my favorite images from the session below.
