Capturing the Magic of an In-Home Newborn Session with Older Siblings

Welcoming a newborn into your family is one of life’s most beautiful milestones, and an in-home lifestyle session is the perfect way to capture those intimate, everyday moments. These sessions focus on real-life interactions, keeping everything relaxed, natural, and full of love. If you have older siblings at home, including them in the shoot can create heartwarming photos that truly showcase the bond between them and their new sibling.

This is the second time I have worked with this wonderful family as they welcome home a new baby. It was just about three years ago when I captured some beautiful moments for their second born and I was so thrilled when they reached out to let me know they would be adding one more to the family!

While bringing a new baby home brings so much excitement, there is definitely a little stress involved during these winter months. Especially when we have had a particularly tough cold and flu season here in Pittsburgh. I have a February baby myself and I remember those early days home just hoping and praying his big brother didn't bring any germs home from daycare!

Since the older siblings had been sick, they haven't had as much face-to-face time with their new brother. We took some steps to try and limit the amount of in-your-face moments the kids had with the baby. They were so excited to interact with him. We stuck to lots of toe, belly and top of head touches/kisses and those really made for some of the sweetest moments.

With lots of little breaks, and changes in location around the house I was able to capture some authentic moments with the whole family. This family did add on the wrapped images to the session and baby boy was a dream! While he didn't love when I changed out the wraps, he was more than willing to fall into a deep sleep for some adorable shots!
