From Bouncing Energy to Baby Snuggles: A Beautiful Newborn Session in Pittsburgh

Writer: Allison PayneAllison Payne

A newborn session is one of the most special moments a photographer can capture, and this one was no exception. I have had the pleasure of working with this adorable family for years now and it was truly special to watch as the family welcomed their sweet baby girl into the mix. The love and excitement in their home was contagious, and it made for the most heartwarming and silly session.

Big brother, who was as full of energy was more than eager to interact with his baby sister. While he might not have wanted to sit still for long, he brought so much personality and playfulness to the shoot and wanted to be a part of every moment. The dynamic between the two siblings was so precious, with plenty of giggles, a few playful moments, and lots of love.

When it comes to newborn sessions, there’s often pressure to schedule them within the first two weeks of life, as that’s when babies tend to be sleepier and more flexible. Weather you need more time to recover from having your baby or maybe we just can't get the available dates to line up, this session in Pittsburgh proved that waiting a little longer can have its perks! Little sister, though a bit older than the typical newborn session, was incredibly cooperative. She had moments of being wide awake, which allowed us to capture her bright eyes and sweet expressions, and she settled beautifully when it was time for some peaceful poses. Sometimes, giving baby a little extra time to adjust to the world can result in a smoother, more relaxed session.

Parents, too, were absolutely glowing with joy. They watched as their little ones interacted, making the session feel like a true family celebration. It’s moments like these—full of energy, laughter, and the special bond between siblings—that truly make newborn sessions so unforgettable.

If you're considering a newborn session in Pittsburgh, remember: while the first two weeks can be ideal for some families, it’s not a hard rule. Waiting a little longer can sometimes allow for a more relaxed, joyful experience for everyone involved. And whether your session involves a big brother bouncing around or a sleepy baby, the memories captured will always be priceless.
