Sweet Little In-Home Newborn Session - Pittsburgh

I have said it once and I will say it a thousand times more, there is nothing better than working with a family year after year and watching their family grow! I am not just talking about the kid(s) getting bigger (although that's fun too) but about welcoming new members to the family. Today's sweet little in-home newborn session is a family I first met three years ago when they welcomed their first son! And today I was welcomed by that almost three-year-old with not only a big smile but some beautiful art for my fridge!

Typically, newborn sessions take place within the first two weeks of a baby being born but truly, if the family needs more time to adjust and settle in (especially if they are working with a toddler also) then going past that two-week mark is not a problem. While the little guy today seemed to have a bottomless pit for a stomach and was wide awake for most of his session, he was overall very relaxed which made it easier to transition from different family pairings and rooms. And like all newborn sessions, the extra time in the session is built for these feeding/diaper breaks so it really is never a problem to stop and take care of what your baby needs.

With toddlers in the mix, I also like to try and get their photos done first. Their attention span just isn't there and while they may be excited for everything going on during the session they usually would rather be doing anything else. For today's session we got all of the sibling/family shots done first so it wasn't a problem if he didn't want to join for pictures later on. As you can see from the sneak peek below, he definitely wandered into more shots, snacks in hand! During a session I always have a standard shot list in my head of everything I want to get but it never fails that while I am there, I think of a few more things that I would love to get and honestly, sometimes I feel like I could be there all day catching tiny little moments of your family.

With today's lifestyle newborn session in the books, I get to sit back and watch this family grow...with the kiddos getting bigger that this time!
