Nursing your baby isn't something that works for every new mom or maybe isn't even something you choose to do. In the end, fed is best, right!
When the mama from last night's session reached out to ask about a nursing session I was all for it! She was getting ready to hit the one-year mark of nursing her sweet baby girl and wanted to celebrate with a shoot dedicated to just the two of them to commemorate the nursing journey before it was over. While her big kids and husband joined in for a few shots in the beginning, the rest of the hour was solely dedicated to them!
There are so many beautiful spots in Pittsburgh but the location that popped into my head for an outdoor nursing session was Mellon Park. It has so many little nooks throughout the park, and I knew it would be a great location to help offer some privacy during some of the nursing shots.
We started the session in the lower garden which sometimes can feel a little overgrown. Couple that feel of wild grass, dandelions, sporadic flowers, mamas floral crown and flowy dress and it was chef's kiss! It gave secret garden vibes, and I absolutely loved the soft look it created. From there we ventured around the park to find other little hidden areas (some of which I had never been to before) and found some of the most beautiful backdrops to use. As the session moved along, mama was feeling more confident and open to going to some of the more well-known areas of the park and we finished up the shoot with baby girl laying her head on her mama's shoulder. Icing on the cake!
While little one definitely was distracted throughout the session and didn't nurse for long at any one spot, we got so many amazing shots, and I can't wait to deliver the full gallery! The full hour for just the two of them was perfect and allowed for a carefree and relaxed experience.
