April showers bring May flowers...and then even more rain! Weather is always a tricky variable to work with for any outdoor family session. We were not quite anticipating how many times we would need to move this adorable family's session date to get a day that didn't have super unpredictable rain. Third time was the charm in selecting a date and the evening did not disappoint!
Thankfully this family was very flexible in moving their session and we really lucked out with a beautiful evening. While I don't mind doing a session when it is a little grey out or the ground is a little wet, it is always just a little bit nicer to not have to worry about your toddler running through puddles or looking for a dry place to put the baby down for a minute.
We were just about a week late to get the beautiful blooms at Allegheny Commons Park on the North Side but that didn't matter, we had a big lake to throw lots of rocks and sticks into which entertained the kiddos the whole time. It was such a fun and relaxed session where the three-year-old took the lead.
As with all toddlers, they can sometimes be apprehensive to new places, new people (me) and even the camera. While I did offer prompts for the parents on where to go or even some ways to interact, we really just went with the flow. It is so important to me to make sure the kiddos feel comfortable and confident. While their toddler had moments of playfulness with me, he also needed the comfort of his parents all throughout the session and all of that made for some beautiful shots that I know the family with love!
